Crohn's Disease: an IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).
Summary of the Genetic Disorder and Symptoms:
According to The Mayo Clinic, “Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)” (“Crohn’s Disease”). It causes inflammation in your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition (“Crohn’s Disease”). Other symptoms include lightheadedness, low energy, pound shedding, loss of calories/body weight, and low nutrient intake by the body (“Crohn’s Disease”). Inflammation caused by Crohn’s disease often spreads to the layers of the affected bowel tissue (“Crohn’s Disease”).

Treatments:
According to The Mayo Clinic, there are currently zero treatments to cure CD. However, there are current measures being taken to discover these treatments, in addition to what has already been used to support patients living with CD. These treatments include:¨dcdcbv anti-inflammatory drugs,Corticosteroids ,and oral 5-aminosalicylates¨

Mode of Genetic Inheritance
According to the National Institutes of Health, “The inheritance pattern of Crohn disease is unclear because many genetic and environmental factors are likely to be involved. However, Crohn disease tends to cluster in families; about 15 percent of affected people have a first-degree relative (such as a parent or sibling) with the disorder.” (“Crohn Disease”).

How common is the Genetic Disorder
According to Healthline, “Crohn's is often confused with ulcerative colitis, a similar IBD that only affects the large intestine. According to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, about 1.4 million Americans have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Of those, about 700,000 have Crohn's.”(“Crohn’s Disease by the Numbers”).
